WCHA E-News - September 5, 2007

150+ Members and then some!

The World Conformation Horse Association, has reached an important milestone in its first 100 days, securing more than 150 Founding Members.

"The last 100 days has been exhilarating and exhausting as we've moved forward, and there is still a lot more work to do" said WCHA Steering Committee Chairman Peter Cofrancesco, III. "With a foundation of members in place who have a clear and vested interest in promoting the value of conformation, the WCHA will now move forward in getting its by-laws ratified by a vote of the membership, as well as the election of an executive committee and board of directors."

By law ratification and elections will take place in September, but with a delayed schedule. "The influx of memberships we received September 1 has forced us to delay the by-law ratification date past September 5, our intended goal," Cofrancesco explained. "It's important that all those memberships be processed so everyone who has joined has an opportunity to vote."

Get out the Vote!

One of the privileges of becoming a founding member, besides the fact that the opportunity will never be offered again, is the opportunity to ratify the first by-laws of the group and elect the first Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

As noted above, the schedule has been delayed due to the number of memberships received on September 1, however, the vote will take place in September.

A slate of officers and board of director nominees will be provided to the membership for vote on September 20 with ballots due by October 1. Members will also be able to write in nominations at that time and will be informed of the election process via review of the by-laws earlier in the month.

Please note that if you have an e-mail address on file with WCHA, you will receive notification regarding on-line voting with a downloadable file of the by-laws made available for review. As a cost saving measure, those with faxes and no e-mail will receive it by fax, while those with neither will receive information by mail.

You can help the WCHA by ensuring that those in your communication chain are aware of the above. We know from experience that word travels fast in this industry so your help is appreciated!

Join the Celebration October 17!

The WCHA will "officially" kick off as the newest association in the horse industry at a celebration October 17 at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.

The event will be free to all members and interested persons, although a ticket will be required. WCHA will introduce its slate of officers and board of directors, while representatives will be available to answer questions.

A membership meeting is being scheduled for earlier the same day, as well.

SNAP!

The WCHA is seeking your help is securing your favorite photographs for use during its launch celebration and in publicity. If you have high quality photos that depict your relationship with your horse, like the one at the top right of this newsletter, for example, we'd love to see it. Photographs of smiling people (women, men, kids, families, seniors, you name it), grooming, playing, loving, winning and just having an overall good time with their halter horse would be greatly appreciated. Please send your high resolution digital or scanned photographs only with the photographers permission for use. Photographs are needed no later than September 15. Thanks for your help!
