WCHA Meetings at the AQHA Convention
Everyone is invited to a special WCHA Membership Meeting that will be held on Friday, February 29, during the AQHA Convention
in San Francisco.
The Membership Meeting will both update members on current plans and projects and also serve as a forum for the Board and Executive
Committee to hear from the membership. The meeting will begin at 4:30 pm. It follows a closed meeting for WCHA Board of
Directors members, which begins at 1:30.
Both meetings will be held in the Hyatt Embarcadero Garden Room A.
WCHA Working Luncheon at March to the Arch Show
Mark your calendars for noon on Friday, March 7 during the March to the Arch Show at the National Equestrian Center in
Lake St. Louis, Missouri. That's the day of the WCHA Working Luncheon, which will offer an opportunity to visit with WCHA Founding
Members and Directors for a WCHA update. Topics to be covered are membership, what WCHA has to offer, why it was organized and the
goals of the organization.
The luncheon, to be held in the main meeting/conference room above the main arena, will feature several professional and
leading halter horse trainers and will give the public the opportunity to discuss topics or interest. The informal setting
will allow people to sit one-on-one with a professional trainer.
The luncheon is free of charge and will be hosted by Doug Landon, WCHA Director and Chairman of March To The Arch. Everyone
who is interested in learning more about the WCHA is invited and encouraged to attend.

Exciting New Projects on the Way!
Be sure to watch for details on the planned membership drive and membership tool kit. Plus, the Breeders Program Sub-Committee is working on a
program and events for consideration for 2009 and currently considering whether parts of it might be implemented in 2008.
Organizing the Organization
Concurrently with the activities of the Executive Committee, Directors and Committees, association management is just as busy,
as the association takes form and new policies, programs and directions are set. From creating a membership data base and developing
management and event software, to addressing day-to-day management needs, creating procedures and developing member services, the staff
is also working with the different committees to implement new programs.
Steven Elmer of Pro Management, Inc., which manages the day-to-day business of the association, reports that progress is being
made on all fronts. "It's exciting to see the association take shape. The leaders are truly committed to building an organization
that will benefit this industry."
A Special Note
The Directors and Executive Committee of the WCHA know that many will join in extending condolences and support to the Juan
Caride family of Wayne, Oklahoma. As most of you know, Juan is a long-time breeder and owner of Im Kiddin. The Caride house
was completely destroyed by fire and was a total loss.
We've had some inquiries, so the following is listed for those who want to contact the Carides:
